Brunei: Curb smoking

Good news :)

The Ministry of Health is putting in an effort to educate the public the danger of smoking and to dissuade the society from a smoking lifestyle. Not only that, it is enforcing 'No smoking' signs in public areas, schools, hospitals and government buildings across the country.

This comes into light following the 'No smoking' campaign in the nation on May 24th, 2008 and in enforcing the Tobacco Act 2005, beginning June 1st.

Through this act, sale, distribution or possession of any tobacco to or by an individual below the age of 18 years is punishable by law. The culprit will be subjected to fines between $5000 to $10,000 and up to $20,000 for subsequent convictions.
